In the Feb 7th release of the driver for Dell’s PERC/4eDC I noted the compatibility with PE1950 and PE2950 servers, servers that don’t exists. But they do, May release… http://www.spec.org/cpu/results/res2006q1/cpu2000-20060219-05624.asc. How sad am I for noticing and looking it up 😉

its was just Dell being crap…
It turns out that Apple have it sorted and that Dell just suck. http://www.java.com/en/download/installed.jsp shows I am am on 1.4.2_09 and that the Dell applet doesn’t like me cos I am not on Windows. Arse. Ah well… XP on a MacBookPro is what I NEED for work then 😉

Mac Java
So today I needed to use a Dell DAC4 “console” for the first time in anger. Its a simple enough thing, you SSH forward ports 443 and 5900 to your local machine, point the browser at https://localhost:whereever and off you go. This works fine… or did. Airport WiFi
So, I knew Singapore airport had “free wifi” so I tried it this morning. You have to switch your mobile phone to the STARHUB network and dial a number, they then SMS you a user ID and password. Its all free and it all works. What I didn’t expect though was free wifi at Colombo…

New York Update
So yes, its Tuesday. Things are going well. New machines are in, old ones are nearly fixed (awaiting a fan and a disk) and I can see me being done in time, which is good. I am still not happy with the power cables int the rack, they are all 12foot long and I need…
